The department intends to update trauma rule definitions and prehospital requirements for trauma care and adult and pediatric trauma scoring methodologies. The Department is considering repealing sections 64J-2.003, 64J-2.004, and 64J-2.005 and adopting the Guidelines for Field Triage of Injured Patients, Recommendation of the National Expert Panel on Field Triage, 2011, as the trauma scoring system.

The Order was in response to an emergency petition for a permanent Variance from Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Inc., filed June 26, 2015, and advertised on July 2, 2015, in Vol. 41, No. 128, of the Florida Administrative Register. No comments were received in response to the petition. The Order on the Variance grants the Petitioner a variance from Rule 64J-2.011(3), F.A.C., regarding having an oral/maxillofacial surgeon on call 24 hours a day. The Petitioner has demonstrated that the purpose of the underlying statute has been met and that Petitioner would suffer a substantial hardship if required to comply with this rule.
