Published on: 17376209. This amendment repeals Rules 6A-4.0221, 6A-4.0341, 6A-4.076, and 6A-4.078, F.A.C. These repeals remove the Journalism and Speech subject coverages and the Teacher Coordinator endorsements of Cooperative Education or Work Experience Programs as educator certification options. Prospective teachers of approved courses in Writing, Print, Broadcast, or Media subject areas or the Journalism & Broadcasting Career Path will be required to demonstrate an expanded level of content knowledge by meeting requirements for certification in either English (Grades 6-12), Middle Grades English (Grades 5-9), or as a Educational Media Specialist (Grades PK-12). Prospective teachers of approved courses in Oral Communications or Drama-Theatre Arts subject areas will be required to demonstrate an expanded level of content knowledge by meeting requirements for certification in either English (Grades 6-12), Middle Grades English (Grades 5-9), or Drama (Grades 6-12). Each district school board has authority to establish minimum qualifications for nondegreed teachers of career programs, pursuant to Section 1012.39(1), F.S., by which appropriate requirements may be established for endorsement of prospective educators as a Teacher Coordinator.
