The purpose of this amendment is to ensure that procedures and development of an individualized family support plan for children with disabilities, birth through five years, conforms to the Department of Health, Children’s Medical Services, Early Steps program. The Department of Health, Children’s Medical Services is the lead agency for early intervention services provided to infants and toddlers with disabilities through Part C of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). School districts serving children with disabilities, ages three (3) through (5) may utilize, at the option of the school district and with parental consent, an individualized family support plan (IFSP) in lieu of an individual educational plan (IEP). The effect will be a rule that aligns with the content, definitions and timeline requirements of the Department of Health.
