11-2.003. Notification of Competing Claimants

Effective on Sunday, July 29, 2001
  • 1The law enforcement agency receiving a claim for reward under this rule chapter shall promptly review its records of the case with the view of ascertaining whether any other informants may have any potential claim to the reward. The respective merits of the claims shall not be considered. If any other potential claimants can be identified and located, they shall be notified that a reward in which they may have an interest is being claimed. Thereafter it shall be the responsibility of the claimant(s) to pursue their own claims. In order to give all claimants an opportunity to present their claims, however, the prosecutor shall not endorse any claim until sixty days after the first claim in the case was presented to the law enforcement agency.
