11B-35.002. Basic Recruit Training Programs for Law Enforcement, Correctional, and Correctional Probation
1(1) There are established by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, Basic Recruit Training Programs (BRTP) that provide the minimum required knowledge and proficiency skills necessary for officer employment and certification pursuant to Sections 36943.10(1)-37(3), (6)-(9), (18), (19), F.S. Individuals who apply for employment as a Florida law enforcement, correctional, or correctional probation officer, shall successfully complete one of the Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Programs 68active at the time of enrollment, or be exempt pursuant to Section 80943.131(2), F.S.
82(2) Individuals who are requesting employment as an officer, and have not had previous basic recruit training or have not been certified as an officer in the discipline for which certification is sought, and have met the requirements of Sections 122943.13(1)-123(8) and (11), 126943.14(7), 127and 128943.17(1)(g), F.S., 130shall successfully complete an active Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program pursuant to this rule section.
145(3) The Commission has established basic recruit cross-over training programs to provide lateral movement of officers between criminal justice disciplines. Officers requesting cross-over training in another discipline must comply with Sections 176943.14(7) 177and 178943.17(1)(g), F.S.
180(a) 181To be eligible to attend a 187cross-over training program 190the applicant shall:
1931194. 195Be an active certified officer in the discipline the officer is moving from; or
2092. Have not been separated from employment in the discipline the officer is moving from for more than four years; or
2303. Within four years of the beginning date of the Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program or training required pursuant to subsection 25111B-35.009(7) 252or (8), F.A.C., for the discipline the officer is moving from, ha264ve successfully completed 267the 268Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program 273or training required pursuant to subsection 27911B-35.009(7) 280or (8), 282F.A.C., 283passed the State Officer Certification Examination (SOCE), 290and started the basic recruit cross-over training program298.
299(4) Each training school that offers a Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program, pursuant to this rule section, shall deliver all course materials included in the program. Delivery of the course materials shall comply with the requirements set forth in the Commission’s approved Basic Recruit Training Curriculum.
345(3465347) 348A basic recruit student shall successfully complete all courses in a Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program 364for the discipline in which certification is being requested 373to be eligible to take the applicable State Officer Certification Examination 384pursuant to Rule 38711B-30.0062, 388F.A.C389.
390(6)(a) Within four years of the beginning date of a Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program, an individual shall successfully complete the program, achieve a passing score on the applicable State Officer Certification Examination (SOCE) pursuant to Rule 42711B-30.0062, 428F.A.C., and gain employment and certification as an officer.
437(b) An individual who fails to comply with the requirements in paragraph (6)(a) of this rule section, for the discipline in which the training was completed, within four years of the date of beginning such training, shall as a condition for obtaining employment comply with the following:
4841. Successfully complete the applicable Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program pursuant to Rule 49711B-35.002, 498F.A.C.; and
5002. 501Achieve a passing score on the applicable State Officer Certification Examination pursuant to 514R515ule 51611B-30.0062, 517F.A.C.
518(c) Students who entered into a basic recruit training program and have not completed it at the time that it is retired, remain eligible to complete the program, provided they complete the training within four years of the beginning date, pursuant to this rule section. Retired programs eligible for completion are:
5691. Florida Law Enforcement Academy Basic Recruit Training Program number 2000 (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
5892. Law Enforcement Auxiliary Officer Basic Recruit Training Program number 3006 (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
6093. Florida Correctional Probation Officer Basic Recruit Training Program number 3000, (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
6294. Correctional Officer Cross-Over Training to Florida Law Enforcement Academy number 3002 (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
6505. Correctional Officer Cross-over Training to Correctional Probation Officer Training number 3003 (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
6716. Correctional Probation Officer Cross-Over Training to Florida Law Enforcement Academy number 3005 (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
6937. Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training for Special Operations Forces Recruits Program number 3007 (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
7168. Correctional Probation Basic Recruit Training for Special Operations Forces Recruits Program number 3009 (Retired June 30, 2021). Eligible until June 30, 2025.
