15A-7. Commercial Driver's License |
1(1) The commercial driver’s license skills test is a three-part test established by the department to certify the driving skills necessary for operation of a commercial motor vehicle. The test consists of:
33(a) Pretrip inspection; and,
37(b) Basic vehicle control skills test; and,
44(c) Road test.
47(2) A driver applicant shall demonstrate skills with respect to inspection and operation of air brakes, if the vehicle is equipped with air brakes.
71(3) A skills test applicant shall provide an appropriate vehicle for the skills test.
85(a) The vehicle used for the skills test must be unloaded, except tow trucks may have a vehicle in tow and the towed vehicle must be unloaded.
112(b) The vehicle used for the skills test must have a valid registration 125and proof of insurance, unless exempt from providing proof under current law.
137(c) The vehicle cannot be laden with placarded hazardous materials.
147(d) Motor vehicles provided must have a stationary seat to the right of the driver for use by the examiner who administers the test.
171(4) An appointment is required for the CDL skills test.
181(5) To achieve a passing score on the skills test, the driver applicant must demonstrate that he/she can successfully perform all of the skills listed in Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations 383.113, incorporated herein by reference, and available on the web at: 224http://www.flrules.org/Gateway/reference.asp?No=Ref-07274 226(10-1-96 Edition).
228(6) If the driver applicant does not obey traffic laws, commits a dangerous act, or causes a traffic crash during the test, he or she shall automatically fail the test.
258(7) The required tests in this rule shall be conducted in on-street conditions or under a combination of on-street and off-street conditions.
