49B-1.007. Agency Description

  • 1(1) Tampa Bay Water, A Regional Water Supply Authority, is a public body authorized by Sections 17373.713 18and 19373.715, F.S. 21It was created by Interlocal Agreement pursuant to Section 30163.01, F.S. 32The Counties of Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas, and the municipalities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and New Port Richey are the parties to that Agreement.

    56(2) The Board of Directors are the head of Tampa Bay Water. The Board consists of one representative of each of the parties and each representative is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the governing body of the parties. The Board’s officers consist of a chairman and vice chairman, each of whom shall serve for a term of a year, or until their respective successor is elected and qualified. The Board is vested with all the powers of Tampa Bay Water.

    139(3) The General Manager is the chief executive staff officer of Tampa Bay Water, who serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. The General Manager administers Tampa Bay Water, organizes staff efforts and employs necessary staff with Board approval. The General Manager may classify all positions, authorized by the Board, to fulfill the purposes of Tampa Bay Water subject to Board review.

    203(4) The General Counsel is the chief legal staff officer of Tampa Bay Water, who serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. The Office of the General Counsel provides legal advice and support to the Board of Directors, General Manager, and Tampa Bay Water staff.
