58A-6.015. Adult Day Care Center Staff Training Requirements  


Effective on Monday, August 3, 2015
  • 1(1) Each Adult Day Care Center licensed under Chapter 429, Part III, F.S., shall provide the following training.

    19(a) 20All Staff in Direct Contact with ADRD Participants and Staff Providing Direct Care for ADRD Participants shall receive one 39initial hour of training 43within ninety days of employment, 48which shall satisfy the requirement referenced in Section 56429.917(1)(b), F.S. 58The 59curriculum for the i63nitial one-hour training shall address the following subject areas:

    721. Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders;

    792. Characteristics of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders; and,

    883. Communicating with Participants with Alzheimer’s Disease or Related Disorders.

    98(b) 99All Staff Providing Direct Care for ADRD Participants shall receive 109three hours of additional training, 114within nine months of employment, which 120shall satisfy the requirement referenced in Section 127429.917(1)(c), F.S. 129The 130curriculum for the 133three hours of additional training must address the following subject areas as they apply to Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders:

    1531. Behavior management;

    1562. Assistance with Activities of Daily Living to promote the patient’s independence;

    1683. Activities for Participants;

    1724. Stress management for the caregiver;

    1785. Family issues;

    1816. Participant environment; and,

    1857. Ethical issues.

    188(c) 189All training providers and their curricula must be approved by the Department or its designee pursuant to Rule 20758A-6.016, 208F.A.C., prior to the commencement of training activities pursuant to this rule.

    220(2) An Adult Day Care Center Staff member who has successfully completed training and continuing education consistent with the requirements of Section 242429.178, F.S., 244or completed training consistent with the requirements of Sections 253400.1755 254or 255400.6045, F.S., 257shall be considered as having met the training requirements of this rule.

    269(3) All training required by this rule and Section 278429.917, F.S., 280must be completed only once for each applicable employee.
