  • 1The following terms are defined in this rule:

    9(10111) Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee: The committee created pursuant to Section 4233240.2552601(2), 27(3), 28F.S., to advise the 32d33epartment in the performance of its duties pursuant to the ADI.

    44(45246) Alzheimer’s Disease 49and Related Disorders (ADRD) 53Research Brain Bank: The entity designated by the 61d62epartment to collect post mortem normal control brains and brains of individuals who were clinically diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s disease for the purpose of conducting comparative research aimed at learning about, finding a cause, 96and developing a treatment or cure for the disease.

    105(1063107) Client: 109T110he person with 113ADRD; how115ever, the client’s caregiver will receive benefits through the provision of education, training, 128respite, 129and support services, 132as needed134.

    135(1364137) Memory Disorder Clinic: Research oriented programs created pursuant to Sections 414931500.151515202(1) and (2), F.S., to provide diagnostic and referral services, conduct basic and service-related multidisciplinary research, and develop training materials and educational opportunities for lay and professional caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. Memory disorder clinics shall provide:

    190(a) A minimum of four 195(4) 196hours of in-service training annually to model day care and respite care providers in the designated service area; and

    215(b) A minimum of one 220(1) 221annual contact with each model day care and respite care provider in the designated service area to plan and develop service-related research projects.

    244(2455246) Model Day Care Program: Refers to the three specialized day care programs specifically authorized by Section 426432650.266526702(2684269), F.S. These programs provide a therapeutic setting for the provision of specialized services to clients with Alzheimer’s disease. They also provide training to health care and social service personnel and caregivers, and serve as a natural laboratory for research.

    309(6) Related Memory Disorders: Other forms of progressive 317cognitive 318disorders that result in diminished memory, language, 325other cognitive functions, 328and the inability to perform activities of daily living.

    337(7) Research: 339I340nvestigations undertaken to determine the cause, resulting behavioral changes, treatment, cure, and impact of 354ADRD355.

    356(3578358) Training: The provision of educational activities and instruction to assist health care 371professionals, 372social service providers, 375and caregiver377s 378in understanding 380ADRD 381and to increase their knowledge and caregiving skills.
