5B-54.003. Regulated Honey Bee Pests, Races, and Regulated Articles

  • 1The following honey bee pests, races, and articles are found to be capable of damaging or causing abnormalities to honey bees, colonies of honey bee or beeswax and is declared to constitute a nuisance. Any other honey bee pest, race, or regulated article will be considered a threat to the state upon a risk assessment conducted by the Department. The risk assessment will be incident specific, and may include, but is not limited to, the origin, regulatory environment of origin, and nature of the honey bee pest, race, or regulated article.

    92(1) Honey bee pests:

    96(a) American foulbrood. The disease organism known as 104Paenibacillus 105larvae.

    106(b) The mite 109Troplaelaps clareae111.

    112(2) Honey bee races:

    116(a) 117Apis mellifera scutellata, 120African honey bee.

    123(b) 124Apis mellifera capensis, 127Cape honey bee.

    130(3) Regulated Articles:

    133(a) Honey bee. All forms of the insect, 141Apis mellifera143.

    144(b) Regulated honey bee pests. Those honey bee pests listed under Rule 1565B-54.003, 157F.A.C.

    158(c) Unwanted races of honey bees listed under subsection (2).

    168(d) Used beekeeping equipment or fixtures.
