5C-9.003. Systematic Tick Eradication Area

  • 1(1) All cattle, horses, mules and asses in quarantined areas in which systematic tick eradication is being conducted shall be dipped regularly, or otherwise treated in an approved solution, as directed by representatives of the department, until such time as it is ascertained that such area is free of ticks and is released from quarantine.

    56(2) For the purpose of checking and apprehending undipped cattle, horses, mules and asses in quarantined areas in which systematic tick eradication is in progress, a livestock inspector shall uniformly mark all dipped cattle, horses, mules and asses, with a paint mark. Such paint mark, officially applied, shall be the only recognized indication that said animals have been dipped under official supervision.

    118(3) All hay, straw, pine straw, wild shrubbery, sod, plants, crossties, pulpwood, or similar material, on, in, by, or to which cattle fever ticks may become attached, carried, or transported, originating in a systematic tick eradication area, shall not be shipped, moved or transported in any manner into, within, or through a tick free area, tick quarantined area, or any other systematic tick eradication area unless and until thoroughly treated by the owner with an approved disinfectant under the supervision of a representative of the department.

    204(4) Hides of cattle, horses, mules or asses, or other animals known to be a host to cattle fever tick, originating in a systematic tick eradication area, may move into, within, or through a tick free area or any other systematic tick eradication area, provided such hides are dipped or sprayed under the supervision of a livestock inspector of the department in an approved dipping or spraying solution, and a written permit issued covering the movement to destination; and provided further, that hides which are accompanied by an affidavit stating that they have been salt cured for a period of at least seven (7) days may move from a systematic tick eradication area without necessity of dipping or spraying as set forth above.
