5J-20.041. Underground Installations

  • 1(1) At intervals not to exceed 60 months, all licensed suppliers of LP gas shall perform bar probe leak surveys utilizing a combustible gas indicator (CGI) meter or equivalent testing procedures guaranteeing the same level of safety on all underground installations for which they are the supplier (including but not limited to all storage containers, integral valves, and piping up to the inlet side of the second stage regulator) and which installations serve the following categories of facilities:

    79(a) Places of public assembly;

    84(b) Group living facilities;

    88(c) Health care facilities;

    92(d) Detention and correction facilities; and

    98(e) Industrial or commercial facilities.

    103(2) Educational facilities shall be bar probe leak surveyed upon any change of gas supplier and at intervals not to exceed 60 months.

    126(3) The supplier shall maintain records of these surveys at their local office of distribution and shall properly date-tag each LP gas system so surveyed.

    151(4) All underground storage containers that are not included in the requirements pursuant to subsections (1) and (2) of this rule, shall be visually inspected at the time of each fuel delivery. Documentation of the visual inspection shall be maintained as prescribed in NFPA 58, as incorporated by reference in Rule 2025J-20.002, 203F.A.C.

    204(5) This rule shall not apply to those underground installations already subject to the provisions of Parts 191 and 192, Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
