61G18-25.001. Temporary License to Practice Veterinary Medicine


Effective on Monday, February 6, 1995
  • 1(1) In order to be certified to the Department by the Board for issuance of a temporary license to practice veterinary medicine, an applicant must demonstrate to the Board that the veterinarian meets the following qualifications:

    37(a)1. Applicant has filed an application for temporary licensure identifying the name and address of the owner of the animals to be treated, the type of animals to be treated and their injury or disease, the location the treatment is to be performed, and the names, addresses, and titles of all persons entering the state with the applicant to perform the treatment; or

    1002. Has filed an application and is responding to an emergency as defined in Section 115252.34(2), F.S., 117for the treatment of animals of multiple owners.

    125(b) Has paid the temporary licensure fee specified in Rule 13561G18-12.010, 136F.A.C.;

    137(c) Holds an active license to practice veterinary medicine in another state of the United States and that any license to practice veterinary medicine that he has ever held has never been revoked, suspended or otherwise acted against by the licensing authority. For the purposes of this rule, the Board interprets the phrase "valid license" as requiring an active license;

    197(d) Is neither the subject of any pending prosecution nor has he ever been convicted of any offense which is related to the practice of veterinary medicine; and

    225(e) Satisfies the qualifications for licensure by endorsement specified in Rule 23661G18-14.002, 237F.A.C., except for having demonstrated knowledge of the laws and rules of veterinary medicine in this State as required by 257474.217(1)(a), F.S.

    259(2) A temporary license is valid for a period of thirty (30) days from its issuance and no license shall cover more than the treatment of the animals of the owner identified in the application. Upon expiration of the license, a new license shall be required.
