62-296.408. Nitric Acid Plants

  • 1These limits are applicable to emissions units producing weak nitric acid (50 to 70 percent) by pressure or atmospheric pressure process.

    22(1) Visible emissions – shall not exceed 10 percent opacity.

    32(2) Nitrogen Oxides – emissions shall not exceed 3 pounds per ton of acid produced (100 percent basis).

    50(3) Test Methods and Procedures. All emissions tests performed pursuant to the requirements of this rule shall comply with the following requirements.

    72(a) The test method for visible emissions shall be EPA Method 9, 84as described at 8740 C.F.R. Part 60, 91Appendix A-4, adopted and 95incorporated 96by reference at Rule 10062-204.800, 101F.A.C.

    102(b) The test methods for nitrogen oxides emissions shall be EPA Methods 7, 7A, 7B, 7C, or 7D, 120as described at 12340 C.F.R. Part 60, 127Appendix A-4, adopted and 131incorporated by reference 134at rule 13662-204.800, 137F.A.C. The minimum sample volume shall be as specified in EPA Method 7. Four grab samples at 15 minute intervals (±2 minutes) per run required.

    162(c) Test procedures shall meet all applicable requirements of Chapter 62-297, F.A.C.
