  • 1(1) Alcohol-based hand sanitizer – An antimicrobial skin sanitizer which contains a minimum concentration of at least 60% alcohol.

    20(2) Aseptic te23c24hnique – Pra27c28ti29c30es used by a tattoo artist to prevent 38c39ross 40c41ontamination.

    42(3) Compromised package – A wet, torn, or stained pa52c53kage.

    54(4) Contaminated – means the presence of disease-causing organisms on inanimate objects or surfaces.

    68(5) Cross 70c71ontamination – The a75c76t of spreading disease-80c81ausing organisms from one surfa86c87e to another.

    90(6) Department – The Department of Health and its representative county health departments.

    103(7) Disinfect – The use of a produ111c112t registered with the United States Environmental Prote120c121tion Agen123c124y (USEPA) as a tuber129c130ulo131c132idal disinfectant whi135c136h results in the redu141c142tion in the number of disease-148c149ausing organisms on obje153c154ts or surfa157c158es, thereby rendering them safe for handling and use.

    167(8) Equipment – All machinery, including fixtures, containers, vessels, tools, devices, implements, furniture, display and storage areas, sinks and all other apparatus and appurtenances used in connection with the operation of a tattoo establishment.

    201(9) Fixed – Incapable of being moved.

    208(10) Government-issued photo identification – A document issued by a state, federal, or foreign government containing the photo of the person it is identifying.

    232(11) Inactive license – A tattoo establishment or artist li242c243ense whi245c246h has not been renewed on or before the date of expiration.

    258(12) Instruments – Hand pieces and other tools that may come in contact with a customer’s body or be exposed to body fluids during tattooing procedures.

    284(13) Minor – An individual who is less than eighteen (18) years of age.

    298(14) Person – Any individual, partnership, 304c305orporation, asso307c308iation, or publi311c 312body.

    313(15) Registered business name – The name, as registered with the Department of State, under whi329c330h a tattoo establishment operates.

    335(16) Registered agent for servi340c341e of pro344c345ess – A person, as registered with the Department of State, authorized by a tattoo establishment to re363c364eive legal noti367c368es for the establishment.

    372(17) Single-use – means products or items that are intended for one-time, one-person use and are disposed of after use on each customer, such as cotton swabs or balls, gauze pads, tissues or paper products, sanitary coverings, razors, instruments that pierce the skin, and protective gloves.

    418(18) Spore strip – A devi424c425e used to monitor the sterilization pro432c433ess in a steam auto438c439lave to ensure destru443c444tion of 446Geoba447c448illus stearothermophilus 450spores.

    451(19) Sterilization – The use of a steam auto460c461lave to destroy all forms of mi468c469robial life, in472c473luding spores.

    475(20) Tattoo artist – A tattoo artist as defined in Se486c487tion 488381.00771, F.S., 490in491c492luding an artist who performs 497c498osmeti499c 500tattooing.

    501(21) Unobstru503c504ted a506c507c508ess – A situation where an artist 515c516an wash their hands and return to the tattooing area without recontaminating their hands by handling an object such as a door knob.
