64E-3.0032. Radiologist Assistant Duties and Supervision.

  • 1(213) The duties 6that 7a radiologist assistant may perform, and the level of supervision which must 19be 20provided by the supervising radiologist, are 26specified in the 2930Radiologist Assistant Role Delineation 34 35January 2005,37 38which is 40herein i42ncorporated by reference, except that47:

    48(49a50) 51With regard to Clinical Activity #5723, the radiolo60gist assistant 62shall 63not administ65er radiopharmaceuticals unless the assistant 70is also 72current73ly 74certifi75ed 76by the department 79as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

    84(85b86) 87With regard to Clinical Activity #24, 93the radiologist assistant 96shall 97only a99dminister 100medications 101orally 102while 103under 104the 105direct supervision of the radiologist.

    110(c) With regard to Clinical Activity #25, the radiologist assistant shall 121only 122monitor the patient for side effects or complications of a pharmaceutical while under the direct supervision of the radiologist.

    141(d) With regard to Clinical Activity #27f, the radiologist assistant shall only perform PICC 155(peripherally inserted central catheter) 159placement while under the 163direct 164supervision of the radiologist.

    168(e) With regard to Clinical Activity #28, 175the radiologist assistant may only perform 181those 182additional procedures 184authorized 185in 186compliance with the Radiologist Assistant Role Delineation; however, a radiologist assistant is prohibited from performing the duties specified in 205S206ection 207468.302(3)(h)2208., 209F210.S211.

    212(2) 213Within 30 days of 217beginning 218work, 219a radiologist assistant must submit to the department a written statement from 231the 232supervising radiologist indicating the radiologist 237is 238supervis239ing 240the assistant. This written statement must also contain:

    248(a) 249T250he date the supervisory relationship 255began;

    256(b257) T259he full name and 263Florida 264certification number of the radiologist assistant;

    270(c) 271T272he full name and 276Florida 277license number of the supervising radiologist, and:

    284(d) 285T286he signatures of the 290supervising 291radiologist and radiologist assistant.

    295Within 30 days of the termination of 302the supervisory relationship between the radiologist and the radiologist assistant, the radiologist assistant must submit a written statement to the department indicating the termination date of the supervisory relationship331.
