68A-15.064. Specific Regulations for Wildlife Management Areas - South Region

  • 1(1) J. W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area.

    8(a) Open season:

    111. General gun – Nineteen days prior to Thanksgiving day through January 1 except those years when January 1 falls on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, in which case the season would close on the following Sunday.

    482. Small game – The day following the close of the general gun season through the third Sunday in February.

    683. Spring turkey – The first Saturday of March and continuing for 36 days thereafter (Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays only).

    884. Youth Turkey Hunt – The last Saturday in February and continuing for 1 day thereafter.

    1045. Archery – Ten weeks prior to opening of general gun season and continuing for 22 days thereafter.

    1226. Muzzleloading gun – Five weeks prior to opening of general gun season and continuing for 15 days thereafter.

    1417. Raccoon season – The day following the close of the general gun season through the third Sunday in February.

    1618. Migratory game birds – Migratory game birds during seasons established by Rules 17468A-13.003 175and 17668A-13.008, 177F.A.C.

    1789. Fishing and frogging – Allowed throughout the year except when area is closed to public access.

    195(b) Legal to take: All legal game, fish, furbearers and frogs. Deer daily bag one, annual bag two; wild hog daily bag one, annual bag two. 221The take of wild hog with a shoulder height of less than 20 inches is prohibited. The take of wild hog is prohibited during small game season. 248Turkeys may not be taken during the archery season. The take of antlerless deer is prohibited except during the last 9 days of archery season. Taking of antlered deer not having at least one antler with three or more points 288or one antler with a main beam of ten inches or more in length 302is prohibited, 304except by persons less than 16 years of age313.

    314(c) Camping: 316Camping is allowed from the beginning of archery season through the general gun season, only on designated campsites. Camping equipment may be set up and occupied no earlier than 8:00 a.m. the day prior to the opening of archery season and all vehicles, camps, tents, other camping equipment and litter removed no later than 24 hours after the close of the general gun season. During the remainder of the year when the area is open for public access, camping is allowed at designated campsites on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, but campsites may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each camper shall assure that their campsite is clean at all times. At least camping areas L and M (and 1/2 of B during archery season only) shall be designated for short-term camping, with camping being limited to no longer than three days. The alteration, defacing, moving or tampering in any way with official markings of campsites is prohibited. Only tents, trailers, or self-propelled camping vehicles may be used for camping. Lumber, sheet metal or other building materials and the erection of any permanent structure are prohibited.

    513(d) General regulations:

    5161. The take of wildlife with rifles is prohibited within the Pratt-Whitney buffer zone and within one-fourth mile of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad and Mecca Farms. 542The 543take of wildlife with 547centerfire rifles is prohibited south and east of Stumper’s Grade.

    5572. The use or possession of airboats, tracked vehicles, unlicensed and unregistered motorcycles or all-terrain vehicles on the area is prohibited year-round and use or possession of unlicensed and unregistered motor vehicles is prohibited the day following the close of spring turkey season until 5:00 p.m. three days prior to archery season.

    6093. During periods when check stations are staffed, all persons shall check in and out at a check station when entering and exiting the area and shall check all game taken. People through-hiking on the Florida Trail may enter or exit the area through the Florida Trail.

    6564. During open periods other than designated hunting seasons, vehicles may only be operated on named or numbered roads and Trail 6. From 8:00 a.m. one day before the opening of archery and spring turkey seasons through 6:00 p.m. the day after the close of archery and spring turkey seasons, vehicles may be operated on named or numbered trails, but only by persons participating in the hunts, and on named or numbered roads. Vehicles may only be operated on named or numbered roads and Trail 6 at any time after 8:00 a.m. one day prior to muzzleloading gun, general gun and small game seasons through 6:00 p.m. the day after each of these seasons, except these resrictions shall not apply to persons participating in the hunts.

    7825. During periods when the check stations are staffed, no deer or wild hog shall be quartered or dismembered in the hunt area or removed from the area unless checked at a check station.

    8166. 817Take of wildlife with dogs is prohibited, except during general gun, small game, raccoon and dog training seasons. During small game season, 839dogs may only be used to take small game848.

    8497. Roy R. Burnsed Still Hunt Area: Dogs, except 858dogs used to take small game 864during small game season, are prohibited in the still hunt area, delineated as that portion of the area starting at the junction of the South Grade and the Main Canal, then south on the South Grade to the Indian Trails Outfall Canal, then south, east, and south along the wildlife management area boundary, then west along the L-8 Canal to its junction with the Big Gopher Canal, then northeast along the Big Gopher Canal to its junction with the Tomato Field Grade, then east along the Tomato Field Grade to its junction with the Tomato Field, then along the western boundary of the Tomato Field to its junction with the Main Canal, then northeast along the Main Canal to the point of beginning.

    9878. Deer dogs and bird dogs may be trained only in that portion of the area south and east of Stumper’s Grade and only beginning 14 days prior to the opening of the general gun season and ending 5 days prior to the opening of the general gun season. Taking wildlife with guns is prohibited while training dogs.

    10459. Within the still hunt areas, vehicles may be operated only on named or numbered roads or trails.

    106310. During raccoon season, firearms and dogs as specified in paragraph 107468A-24.002(2)(b), 1075F.A.C., may be used except in the still hunt areas.

    108511. The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited except they may be transported to the extent that Section 1105316.1936, F.S., 1107allows only on the North South and Stumper’s grades, and may only be consumed at designated campsites other than Camp O.

    112812. Unauthorized planting of trees and shrubs is prohibited.

    113713. Public access is allowed throughout the year except from the Sunday two weeks prior to the opening of archery season until 8:00 a.m. the day prior to the archery season 1168when the area shall be closed to public access except on the portion of the North Grade between the north entrance and the B camp gate and on the portion of Stumper’s Grade between the south entrance and an internal gate where access will be allowed starting 5:00 p.m. three 1218days prior to archery season. Vehicles parked on the North Grade during the closure period shall not be left unattended by a driver1241. Hiking on the Florida Trail and use of the Hungryland Boardwalk is allowed throughout the year.

    125814. Fires other than campfires are prohibited.

    126515. Dogs, vehicles, and taking wildlife with firearms or crossbows are prohibited in the Bruce Bowman archery still hunt area, delineated as that portion of the area lying north of the Stumpers Grade, east of the powerline, south and west of Game Canal to the buggy bridge and west of the youth camp road to the intersection of the Stumpers Grade except that vehicles may be used on established roads to access parking lots at the youth camp, shooting range and nature interpretive center.

    134916. Taking wildlife on or from the nature trail, boardwalk, entrance road or parking lot in the Bruce Bowman archery still hunt area is prohibited.

    137417. Archery equipment may be used for hunting during the established muzzleloading gun season in the Bruce Bowman archery still hunt area. All legal to take regulations for muzzleloading gun season shall apply when using archery equipment during this time period.

    141518. Persons shall enter and exit the area only at designated entrances.

    142719. Northern bobwhite may be released and taken by shotgun during the small game season provided each individual or group participating possesses a daily permit and proof (including the name and address of the vendor and date of purchase) that the northern bobwhite were purchased within the past 90 days from a game farm licensed by the Commission or another state.

    148820. Tree stands, deer stands and elevated shooting platforms and prohibited except from 6 a.m. the day prior to the opening of archery season until 6 p.m. the day following the end of general gun season.

    1524(2) Holey Land Wildlife Management Area.

    1530(a) Open season:

    15331. General gun – Walk, October 3-18.

    15402. General gun – Vehicle (tracked vehicles only), October 24 through November 8.

    15533. Archery – August 8-30.

    15584. Muzzleloading gun – September 5-13.

    15645. Small game – November 9 through March 7.

    15736. Migratory game birds – Migratory game birds except crows, mourning dove and white-winged dove during seasons established by Rules 159368A-13.003 1594and 159568A-13.008, 1596F.A.C.

    15977. Fishing and frogging – Throughout the year.

    1605(b) Legal to take: All legal game (except wild turkey), fish, frogs and furbearers. 1619Take of antlerless deer is prohibited during 1626the archery season. Taking of antlered deer not having at least one antler with two or more points and having one or more antlers at least 5 inches in length visible above the hairline is prohibited. 1662The take of wild hog is prohibited during small game season. 1673The bag limit for antlered deer shall be one during archery season, one during muzzleloading gun season, one during general gun-walk season and one per tag during the general gun-vehicle season.

    1704(c) Camping – 1707Only tents, trailers or self-propelled camping vehicles may be used for camping. Camps may not be set up in the area prior to seven days before archery season and all vehicles, camps, tents, other camping equipment and litter must be removed no later than 6:00 p.m. seven days after the close of the general gun season. The erection of any permanent structure is prohibited. During the remainder of the year, camping is allowed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, but campsites may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours. Camping is allowed only on the L-5 Levee and the Miami Canal Levee.

    1811(d) General regulations:

    18141. The use of all-terrain vehicles is prohibited, except for the purposes of hunting and scouting from 6:00 a.m. two weeks prior to archery season until 6:00 p.m. one day prior to the opening day of general gun-vehicle season. 1853During the archery, muzzleloading gun and general gun-walk seasons, vehicles may only be operated on levees, except all-terrain vehicles may be operated off-road. 1876Airboats are prohibited during the archery, muzzleloading, general gun-walk and general gun-vehicle seasons except airboats used for the purpose of waterfowl hunting on days when waterfowl hunting is allowed under Rule 190768A-13.003, 1908F.A.C. While an all-terrain vehicle is in motion, no person shall occupy any platform or structure attached thereto. No all-terrain vehicle may be equipped with a steering mechanism that would enable the all-terrain vehicle to be operated from a platform or structure attached thereto.

    19522. Vehicles are prohibited on tree islands, strands and wildlife islands.

    19633. A general gun-vehicle permit is required of any person to operate a vehicle during the general gun-vehicle season. 1982A general gun-vehicle permit and tag shall only be transferred in the field by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission law enforcement supervisors or their designees when a tracked vehicle becomes inoperable and unable to be repaired while within the wildlife management area to which the tracked vehicle is assigned as determined by the general gun-vehicle permit.

    20394. 2040On Saturdays and Sundays during the archery, muzzleloading gun, general gun-walk and general gun-vehicle seasons deer and wild hog may not be quartered, dismembered or removed from the area until checked at a manned check station.

    20765. During the general gun-vehicle season, all deer taken shall be immediately tagged.

    20896. Hunting with dogs is allowed only during the general gun-vehicle season, except that bird dogs and retrievers may be used during snipe and waterfowl seasons, 2115and dogs may be used to take small game during small game season2128.

    21297. Persons may enter and exit the area from the L-5 or Miami Canal Levee only.

    21458. During the general gun-vehicle hunt, the area is closed to walk hunting.

    21589. Fires other than campfires are prohibited.

    216510. Vehicles are prohibited on all levees except the L-5 and Miami Canal Levees.

    217911. The construction of docks of any type is prohibited.

    218912. No person shall operate any vessel outside of Water Management District canals unless it is equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a minimum height of 10 feet above the bottom of the vessel.

    223413. All boat ramps, parking areas, roads, camping areas, levees, and adjacent powerline pads are closed to hunting.

    225214. No person shall operate any all-terrain vehicle, motorized two-wheeled vehicle, or motorized three-wheeled vehicle unless it is equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a minimum height of 6 feet above the top of the seat.

    229915. Non-native reptiles may be taken year around.

    230716. Guns are a prohibited method of take for non-native reptiles, except when the use of guns to take game or alligators is authorized and after the last day of small game season through the second Sunday in April when all legal methods of take for game animals or alligators are allowed, except the use of centerfire rifles is prohibited.

    236717. Conditional non-native snakes and lizards, as listed in subsection 237768-5.002(4), 2378F.A.C., shall not be removed from the area alive.

    238718. The day after small game season ends through the second Sunday in April shooting hours for non-native reptiles shall be 1/2 hour before sunrise and until 1/2 hour after sunset.

    241819. Tree stands, deer stands and elevated shooting platforms are prohibited except from 6:00 a.m. two weeks prior to the opening of archery season until 6:00 p.m. the Sunday following the end of general gun-vehicle season.

    2454(e) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this subsection, alligator hunt participants may operate airboats and tracked vehicles throughout the area when taking alligators.

    2477(3) Everglades and Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area.

    2486(a) Open season:

    24891. General gun – Walk, October 3-18, Conservation Areas 3A North and 2A (north of the East/West Airboat Trail) only.

    25092. General gun – Vehicle (airboats and tracked vehicles only), October 24 through November 8, in Conservation Areas 3A North, 3A South, 2, and the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area.

    25403. Archery – August 8-30, Conservation Area 3A North only.

    25504. Muzzleloading gun – September 5-13, in Conservation Area 3A North only.

    25625. Small game – November 9 though March 7.

    25716. Migratory game birds – 2576Migratory game birds except mourning dove and white-winged dove during seasons established by Rules 259068A-13.003 2591and 259268A-13.008, 2593F.A.C.

    25947. Fishing and frogging – Throughout year.

    2601(b) Legal to take: All legal game (except turkeys), fish, frogs and furbearers. Taking of antlered deer not having at least one forked antler and having one or more antlers at least 5 inches in length visible above the hairline is prohibited. The forked antler shall have at least two points one inch or greater in length. Take of antlerless deer is prohibited during archery season. 2667The take of wild hog is prohibited during small game season. 2678The bag limit for antlered deer shall be one per season during archery, muzzleloading gun and general gun-walk seasons and one per tag during the general gun-vehicle season.

    2706(c) Camping: 2708Only tents, trailers or self-propelled camping vehicles may be used for camping. Camps may not be set up in the area prior to 7 days before archery season and all vehicles, camps, tents, other camping equipment and litter must be removed no later than 6:00 p.m. seven days after the close of the general gun season. The erection of any permanent structure is prohibited. Camping during the period from eight days following the close of the general gun season to eight days prior to the archery season is allowed but only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and camps may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours during this period. Overnight camping is prohibited in areas posted as closed to camping.

    2830(d) General regulations:

    28331. Taking wildlife with guns on the levee bordering the Hillsboro Canal (L-39) is prohibited.

    28482. Vehicles and airboats are prohibited on tree islands, wildlife islands and tree strands.

    28623. The use of all-terrain vehicles is prohibited, except for the purposes of hunting and scouting from 6:00 a.m. two weeks prior to archery season until 6:00 p.m. one day prior to the opening day of general gun-vehicle season. 2901During the archery, muzzleloading gun and general gun-walk seasons, vehicles may only be operated on levees, except all-terrain vehicles may be operated off-road. 2924While an all-terrain vehicle is in motion, no person shall occupy any platform or structure attached thereto. No all-terrain vehicle may be equipped with a steering mechanism that would enable the all-terrain vehicle to be operated from a platform or structure attached thereto.

    29674. Access into Conservation Area 2A during the general gun-walk season is allowed only from the L-6 Levee.

    29855. The operation of airboats is prohibited during legal shooting hours in Conservation Area 3A North during archery, muzzleloading gun and general gun seasons, and in Conservation Area 2 (north of the East/West Airboat Trail only) during general gun season.

    30256. A general gun-vehicle permit is required of any person to operate a vehicle during the general gun-vehicle season. General gun-vehicle permits will be given to both tracked vehicle and airboat hunters. 3057A general gun-vehicle permit and tag shall only be transferred in the field by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission law enforcement supervisors or their designees when a vehicle or airboat becomes inoperable and unable to be repaired while within the wildlife management area to which the vehicle or airboat is assigned as determined by the general gun-vehicle permit.

    31167. During the general gun-vehicle season, all deer taken shall be immediately tagged.

    31298. On Saturdays and Sundays during the 3136archery, muzzleloading gun, general gun-walk and 3142general gun-vehicle seasons, deer and wild hog may not be quartered or dismembered or removed from the area until checked at a manned check station.

    31679. During the general gun-vehicle season, Conservation Area 3A North is closed during legal shooting hours to vehicles and airboats except those authorized by permit. Frogging (by airboat only) in Conservation Area 3A North is allowed from one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise.

    321310. Unauthorized motorized vehicles are prohibited on all the levees except the L-4, L-5, and L-6 levees.

    323011. Taking of wildlife by use of a gun on or from rights-of-way of State Road 84, US 41 or US 27 is prohibited as provided by Rule 325868A-4.008, 3259F.A.C.

    326012. Hunting with dogs is allowed only during the general gun-vehicle season except that bird dogs and retrievers may be used during waterfowl and snipe seasons, 3286and dogs may be used to take small game during small game season3299.

    330013. During the general gun-vehicle hunt, walk hunting is prohibited.

    331014. Fires other than campfires are prohibited.

    331715. The construction of docks of any type is prohibited.

    332716. No person shall operate any vessel outside of Water Management District canals unless it is equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a minimum height of 10 feet above the bottom of the vessel.

    337217. Dogs may be trained in Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area beginning the first Saturday in October and ending nine days thereafter. Taking wildlife with guns in the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area during the dog training season is prohibited.

    341418. All boat ramps, parking areas, roads, camping areas, levees, and adjacent powerline pads are closed to hunting.

    343219. No person shall operate any all-terrain vehicle, motorized two wheeled vehicle, or motorized three-wheeled vehicle unless it is equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a minimum height of 6 feet above the top of the seat.

    348020. 3481Commercial recreational activities, such as but not limited to airboat rides, guide services or other tourist services, are prohibited in that portion of Conservation Area 3A South leased to the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida unless authorized by the Miccosukee Tribe, which has the exclusive right to provide such services in the Leased Area.

    353621. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary suggested herein, nothing in law shall limit, diminish or abridge uses by the Miccosukee Tribe and its members who have rights guaranteed under the Indian Land Claims Settlement Act, Lease Agreement and other laws.

    357622. Non-native reptiles may be taken year round.

    358423. Guns are a prohibited method of take for non-native reptiles, except when the use of guns to take game or alligators is authorized and after the last day of small game season through the second Sunday in April when all legal methods of take for game animals or alligators are allowed, except the use of centerfire rifles is prohibited.

    364424. Conditional non-native snakes and lizards, as listed in subsection 365468-5.002(4), 3655F.A.C., shall not be removed from the area alive.

    366425. The day after small game season ends through the second Sunday in April shooting hours for non-native reptiles shall be 1/2 hour before sunrise until 1/2 hour after sunset.

    369426. Tree stands, deer stands and elevated shooting platforms are prohibited except from 6:00 a.m. two weeks prior to the opening of archery season until 6:00 p.m. the Sunday following the end of general gun-vehicle season.

    3730(e) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this subsection, alligator hunt participants may operate airboats and tracked vehicles throughout the area when taking alligators.

    3753(4) Rotenberger Wildlife Management Area.

    3758(a) Open season:

    37611. General gun – Walk, October 3-18.

    37682. General gun – Vehicle (tracked vehicles only), October 24 through November 8.

    37813. Archery – August 8-30.

    37864. Muzzleloading gun – September 5-13.

    37925. Small game – November 9 through March 7.

    38016. Migratory game birds 3805– Migratory game birds except mourning dove and white-winged dove during the seasons established for these species in Rules 382468A-13.003 3825and 382668A-13.008, 3827F.A.C.

    38287. Fishing and frogging – Allowed throughout the year.

    3837(b) Legal to take: All legal game (except turkeys), furbearers, fish and frogs. Take of antlerless deer is prohibited during archery season. Taking of antlered deer not having at least one antler with two or more points and having one or more antlers at least 5 inches in length visible above the hairline is prohibited. 3892The take of wild hog is prohibited during small game season. 3903The bag limit for antlered deer shall be one per season during archery, muzzleloading gun and general gun-walk seasons and one per tag during the general gun-vehicle season.

    3931(c) Camping: 3933Camping is allowed only on the Miami Canal, Manley Ditch and Powerline levees. Only tents, trailers or self-propelled camping vehicles may be used for camping. Camps may not be set up in the area prior to seven days before archery season and all vehicles, camps, tents, other camping equipment and litter must be removed no later than 6:00 p.m. seven days after the close of the general gun-vehicle season. The erection of any permanent structure is prohibited. Camping during the period from eight days following the close of the general gun season to eight days prior to the archery season is allowed but only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and camps may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours during this period.

    4057(d) General regulations:

    40601. A general gun-vehicle permit is required of any person to operate a vehicle during the general gun-vehicle season. 4079A general gun-vehicle permit and tag shall only be transferred in the field by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission law enforcement supervisors or their designees when a tracked vehicle becomes inoperable and unable to be repaired while within the wildlife management area to which the tracked vehicle is assigned as determined by the general gun-vehicle permit.

    41362. Vehicles are prohibited on wildlife islands, tree islands and tree strands.

    41483. Deer taken during the general gun-vehicle season shall be immediately tagged.

    41604. 4161On Saturdays and Sundays during the archery, muzzleloading gun, general gun-walk and general gun-vehicle seasons deer and wild hog may not be quartered, dismembered or removed from the area until checked at a manned check station.

    41975. The construction of docks of any type is prohibited.

    42076. The use of all-terrain vehicles is prohibited, except for the purposes of hunting and scouting from 6:00 a.m. two weeks prior to archery season until 6:00 p.m. one day prior to the opening day of general gun-vehicle season. 4246During the archery, muzzleloading gun and general gun-walk seasons, vehicles may only be operated on levees, except all-terrain vehicles may be operated off-road. During the archery, muzzleloading gun and general gun-walk seasons, airboats are prohibited except airboats may be used for the purpose of waterfowl hunting on days when waterfowl hunting is allowed under Rule 430168A-13.003, 4302F.A.C4303. 4304While an all-terrain vehicle is in motion, no person shall occupy any platform or structure attached thereto. No all-terrain vehicle may be equipped with a steering mechanism that would enable the all-terrain vehicle to be operated from a platform or structure attached thereto.

    43477. The area is closed to all vehicles and airboats during the general gun-vehicle season except vehicles authorized by permit 4367and airboats used for the purpose of waterfowl hunting on days when waterfowl hunting is allowed under Rule 438568A-13.003, 4386F.A.C.

    43878. Hunting with dogs is allowed only during the general gun-vehicle season, except that 4401bird dogs and 4404retrievers may be used during 4409snipe and waterfowl seasons, and dogs may be used to take small game during small game season4426.

    44279. Fires other than campfires are prohibited.

    443410. During the general gun-vehicle hunt, walk hunting is prohibited.

    444411. Persons may enter and exit the area from the L-4, Powerline, Miami Canal and Manley Ditch Levees only.

    446312. No person shall operate any vessel outside of Water Management District canals unless it is equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a minimum height of 10 feet above the bottom of the vessel.

    450813. All boat ramps, parking areas, roads, camping areas, levees, and adjacent powerline pads are closed to hunting.

    452614. No person shall operate any all-terrain vehicle, motorized two wheeled vehicle, or motorized three-wheeled vehicle unless it is equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a minimum height of 6 feet above the top of the seat.

    457415. Non-native reptiles may be taken year round.

    458216.     469219. Tree stands, deer stands and elevated shooting platforms are prohibited except from 6:00 a.m. two weeks prior to the opening of archery season until 6:00 p.m. one day after the end of general gun-vehicle season.

    4728(e) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this subsection, alligator hunt participants may operate airboats and tracked vehicles throughout the area when taking alligators.

    4751(5) Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area.

    4757(a) Open season:

    47601. General gun – Twelve days prior to Thanksgiving day through January 1 except during those years when January 1 falls on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, in which case the season would close on the following Sunday except in the Deep Lake, Stairsteps and Loop units.

    48072. Small game – The day following the close of general gun season through February 1.

    48233. Archery – Starting the Saturday prior to Labor Day and ending 29 days thereafter in all units and twelve days prior to Thanksgiving day through January 1, except during those years when January 1 falls on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, in which case the season would close on the following Sunday in the Deep Lake, Stairsteps and Loop units only.

    48854. Muzzleloading gun – October 10-25, except in the Deep Lake Unit.

    48975. Spring turkey – March 6 through April 11.

    49066. September duck – In the September season as established by Rule 491868A-13.003, 4919F.A.C., except on the Bear Island, Addition and Deep Lake Units.

    49307. Fishing and frogging – Allowed throughout the year.

    4939(b) Legal to take: All legal game, fish, frogs and furbearers (except bobcat and otter). 4954Taking of antlered deer not having at least one antler with two or more points is prohibited, except by persons less than 16 years of age. In the Loop Unit and zones 1 through 3 of the Stairsteps Unit, taking of deer not having at least one antler with four or more points is prohibited. The take of deer in Zone 4 of the Stairsteps Unit is prohibited. 5022The take of wild hog with a shoulder height of less than 15 inches is prohibited. The take of wild hog is prohibited during small game season. The taking of raccoons with a gun and light is prohibited. The taking of turkey or antlerless deer during the archery season is prohibited. Deer, turkey and wild hog bag limit one per day; two annually, except no more than one deer may be taken annually within the Loop Unit and zones 1 through 3 of the Stairsteps Unit, combined.

    5109(c) Camping – Permitted in accordance with the general regulations of the National Park Service. Additionally, camping is allowed on the Bear Island Unit by the use of tents, trailers, and self-propelled vehicles at designated campsites only. Camping is allowed on designated campsites on other units. Primitive camping is not limited to designated campsites except on Bear Island Unit.

    5168(d) General regulations:

    51711. Hunting with dogs (other than bird dogs and waterfowl retrievers) is prohibited, 5184except that during small game season dogs may be used for hunting small game5198. Hunting deer or wild hog with dogs is prohibited. All dogs are prohibited in the Loop unit. The possession of dogs (other than for hunting purposes) is prohibited except as authorized by National Park Service regulations. Leashed dogs may not be used for trailing wounded game.

    52452. The removal of any plant is prohibited.

    52533. All vehicles used off-road shall have a National Park Service registration.

    52654. Vehicular use by the public on Eleven-mile Road or the Florida Trail is prohibited. Vehicles may cross Eleven-mile Road at designated and marked crossing points only. Only vehicles equipped with pneumatic tires may be operated on the Jetport Road. Parking of vehicles is prohibited on Jetport Road.

    53135. During periods when check stations are staffed hunters shall check in at a designated check station when entering the area, retain in their possession a check station pass while hunting and check out at the same check station when exiting the area and shall check all game taken. Deer, wild hog and turkey may be divided or consumed in the field but each portion shall be identified by the number of the license of the person killing it and be readily traceable to the portion of the animal bearing sex identification. Jaw bones of the deer shall be saved for use by the Commission.

    54186. Public access inside any fenced portion of the Jetport property is prohibited.

    54317. Taking wildlife by use of a gun on or from rights-of-way of County Roads 839, 841, 837 or Burns Road or State Road 84 or 94 or US 41 or the L-28 Interceptor Canal levees is prohibited as provided by Rule 547368A-4.008, 5474F.A.C.

    54758. The intentional destruction, defacement or removal of any natural or cultural feature or nonrenewable resource is prohibited.

    54939. Draining or dumping refuse or wastes from any trailer or other vehicle is prohibited.

    550810. The collection of plants, rocks, minerals, animal life, or other natural objects is allowed only in accordance with written permits obtained in advance from the National Park Service.

    553711. Constructing a building or other structures is prohibited, unless permitted by the National Park Service.

    555312. Fires are allowed only on designated camping areas or in back country campsites and must be completely extinguished prior to the user leaving the campsite.

    557913. No person shall enter or exit the area north of I-75 by any route except via the north end of Turner River Road through the Bear Island check station or at other designated entry points along I-75.

    561714. All airboats shall be equipped with an orange flag at least 10 inches wide and 12 inches long and displayed at a mnimum height of 10 feet above the bottom of the vessel.

    565115. The take of wildlife with guns other than muzzleloading guns or bow and arrow in the Deep Lake Unit is prohibited.

    567316. Conditional non-native snakes and lizards as listed in subsection 68A-5.002(4), F.A.C., may be taken during established seasons for the taking of game animals or alligators and only by persons properly licensed and permitted to take game animals or alligators.

    571317. Guns are a prohibited method of take for Conditional non-native snakes and lizards, except when the use of guns to take game or alligators is authorized.

    574018. Conditional non-native snakes and lizards shall not be removed from the area alive.

    575419. Persons that take any Conditional non-native snakes and lizards shall report the take within 36 hours, and shall provide all data requested.

    577720. Motorized vehicles are prohibited in the Addition Unit except that licensed and registered vehicles may be operated on designated portions of L-28 Interceptor Canal levees north of I-75.

    5806(6) Okaloacoochee Slough Wildlife Management Area.

    5812(a) Open season:

During the spring turkey season, one gobbler (or bearded turkey) may be taken per person, but not more than two per quota permit. One gobbler (or bearded turkey) may be taken per special-opportunity spring turkey permit. East of US Highway 27, 6432gobblers or bearded turkeys may only be taken during the special-opportunity spring turkey season from one-half hour before sunrise until 1 p.m. 6454During the wild hog-still season, only wild hog may be taken.

    6465(c) Camping: Primitive camping is allowed year-round throughout the area, except at the concessionaire-operated public campground in Palmdale. At the Palmdale campground, camping shall be by permit only and only tents, trailers or self-propelled camping vehicles may be used.

    6504(d) General regulations:

    65071. Entry into or exit from the area at locations other than designated entrances is prohibited.

    65232. The use of any vehicle, including but not limited to tracked vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, or motorcycles, is prohibited. The use of personal watercraft or horses is prohibited. The use of airboats is prohibited west of the “head of the bushes.” An airboat use permit issued by the Commission shall be required for all airboats operating in the management area.

    65833. During periods when the check station is staffed, hunters shall check in and out at the check station located at the Palmdale campground when entering and exiting the area and shall check all game taken. Hunters shall access the area only from the Palmdale campground, except that special-opportunity turkey hunters may access the special-opportunity hunt area from the right-of-way US Highway 27 provided they check in and out at the check station.

    66564. Public access, other than by foot, bicycle, or boat, is prohibited, except registered and licensed vehicles and golf carts, as defined by Section 6680320.01(22), F.S., 6682may be operated within the Palmdale campground. Entry into or exit from locations other than via Fisheating Creek at its intersections with C.R. 731, and at US 27 in Palmdale, and at the Mainstreet access at Palmdale, and at S.R. 78 near Lakeport, is prohibited.

    67275. Hunting with dogs is prohibited.

    67336. During periods when the check station is staffed, no deer or turkey shall be dismembered until checked at the check station.

    67557. Fires other than campfires are prohibited.

    67628. West of US Highway 27 only, turkeys harvested during spring turkey season may be divided in the field provided each portion shall be labeled with the date and time of harvest and the name, address, and hunting license number (if required) of the person that harvested the turkey. Each portion of the divided turkey would be readily traceable to evidence of the birds sex identification.

    6828(8) Picayune Strand Wildlife Management Area.

    6834(a) Open season:

    68371. Archery – August 8-23.

    68422. Muzzleloading gun – September 5-7 and 12-14.

    68503. General gun – October 10-13, 14-18 and 19-25.

    68594. Small game – October 31 through January 10.

    7051(c) Camping: Prohibited, except as authorized by the Florida Forest Service. Only tents, trailers, or self-propelled camping vehicles may be used for camping.

    7074(d) General regulations:

    70771. Hunting with dogs is prohibited except dogs may be used 7088to take small game 7092during small game season.

    70962. The use of airboats is prohibited. Off-Highway Vehicles (all-terrain vehicles and off-highway motorcycles) are prohibited except by permit from the Florida Forest Service only.

    71213. Only licensed and registered vehicles may be operated on the area, and only on designated roads, parking areas, and other areas as designated by the Florida Forest Service, except swamp buggies and ROVs may be used during (and 1 week prior to the opening of) the muzzleloading gun, general gun, and spring turkey seasons, but only by individuals having a valid quota permit and only on designated roads in that portion of the area east of and including Miller Blvd. and south of and including Berson Blvd.

    72094. Fires other than campfires are prohibited.

    72165. N7218on-native reptiles may be taken year round.

    72256. Guns are a prohibited method of take for non-native reptiles, except when the use of guns to take game or alligators is authorized.

    72497. Conditional non-native snakes and lizards, as listed in subsection 725968-5.002(4), 7260F.A.C., shall not be removed from the area alive.

    7269(9) Dinner Island Ranch Wildlife Management Area.

    7276(a) Open season:

    75271. Hunting with dogs is prohibited except bird dogs or retrievers may be used during migratory bird seasons for taking migratory game birds and 7551dogs may be used to take small game during small game season7563.

    75642. The use of tracked vehicles, swamp buggies, airboats, unlicensed and unregistered motorcycles, or all-terrain vehicles is prohibited, except that swamp buggies and all-terrain vehicles may be operated during the archery, muzzleloading gun, and general gun seasons by individuals participating in the hunt.

    76073. Vehicles may be operated only on named or numbered roads.

    76184. Horses are prohibited during 7623archery, muzzleloading gun, general gun, family hunt and spring turkey seasons7634. Horses are allowed on named or numbered roads and named or numbered trails only.

    76495. During periods when the check station is staffed, hunters shall check in and out at the designated check station when entering and exiting the area and shall check all game taken.

    76816. During periods when the check station is staffed, no deer, wild hog or turkey shall be dismembered until checked at the check station.

    77057. Fires other than campfires are prohibited.

    77128. Shooting hours for dove hunts shall be from noon until sunset. Hunters may enter the posted field no earlier than one hour before shooting time and shall exit the field within one hour after sunset.

    77489. Dove field permits shall be issued on a first-come, first-served basis at the check station on the day of each phase 1 dove hunt.

    777310. Northern bobwhite may be released and taken by shotgun during the small game season provided each individual or group participating possesses a daily permit and proof (including the name and address of the vendor and date of purchase) that the northern bobwhite were purchased within the past 90 days from a game farm licensed by the Commission or another state.

    783411. Persons shall enter and exit the area only at the designated entrance.

    7847(10) Spirit-of-the-Wild Wildlife Management Area.

The use of tracked vehicles, swamp buggies, airboats, unlicensed and unregistered motorcycles, and all-terrain vehicles is prohibited, except that swamp buggies and all-terrain vehicles may be operated during the archery, muzzleloading gun, and general gun seasons by individuals participating in the hunt.

    81683. Vehicles may be operated only on named roads. During the archery, muzzleloading gun, and general gun seasons vehicles may also be operated on numbered trails by individuals participating in the hunt.

    82004. Horses are prohibited during periods open to hunting. During non-hunting periods, horses are allowed on named or numbered roads and on designated equestrian trails only.

    82265. During periods when the check station is staffed, hunters shall check in and out at the designated check station when entering and exiting the area and shall check all game taken.

    82586. During periods when the check station is staffed, no deer, wild hog or turkey shall be dismembered until checked at the check station.

    82827. Fires are prohibited.

    8286(11) Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Area.

    8292(a) Open season:
