6A-4. Certification |
1(1) The purpose of instructional personnel certification is to provide evidence that educators in the State of Florida are professionally qualified in order to protect the educational interests of students, parents, and the public at large. Instructional personnel who obtain certification in the State of Florida shall possess adequate pedagogical and relevant subject matter knowledge and demonstrate an acceptable level of professional performance.
64(2) The certificates are issued by the Florida Department of Education in accordance with Section 791012.56, F.S., 81and these rules. Other statutory provisions may have an impact on the educator certification process. Persons should refer to both the statutes and the rules for complete information regarding the legal basis of the instructional personnel certification process.
119(3) Certification is administered and implemented by the Bureau of Educator Certification, Florida Department of Education, 325 West Gaines Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0400. Communications to the Department should be directed to that office. The office of the superintendent of schools for each district school system may also be contacted for information regarding the educator certification process.
