PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The Board proposes the rule amendment to add new language to clarify continuing education requirements.
SUMMARY: The rule amendment will clarify the rule in the practice of prosthetics and orthotics.

64B14-5.002 Continuing Education Requirement.
(1) As a condition of license renewal or recertification, each licensee must complete approved continuing education.
(a) No change.
(b) For the biennium beginning December 1, 2009, each licensees continuing education must include the mandatory courses as identified in Rule 64B14-5.005, F.A.C. two hours on Chapters 456, 468 Part XIV, F.S., and Rule Chapter 64B14, F.A.C.; an up to date registration showing competency as a Healthcare Provider by the American Red Cross; and two hours of continuing education relating to the prevention of medical errors in the practice of prosthetics and orthotics, which shall include a study of root cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, and patient safety; and one hour in infection control, including HIV/AIDS.
