    The Florida Department of Transportation, District 1 invites you to attend and participate in a public hearing for the reevaluation of Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for proposed improvements to Interstate 75 (I-75) from south of Colonial Boulevard to north of SR 78. All persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIMES: Thursday, February 17, 2011, Open House, 6:00 p.m.; Formal Hearing, 7:00 p.m., followed by a public comment period

    PLACE: Victory Christian Center, 11431 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: This public hearing is held to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views regarding the reevaluation of a PD&E Study approved by the Federal Highway Administration in December 2002. The reevaluation is conducted to evaluate proposed design changes for this segment of I-75 and to provide documented information necessary for FDOT to reach a decision on the type, design, and location of the improvements. Design changes involve additional lanes and safety improvements to I-75 from south of Colonial Boulevard to north of SR 78, including widening the bridge over the Caloosahatchee River.     The project is developed to reduce congestion, enhance safety, and achieve an acceptable level-of-service while minimizing potential impacts to the natural and human environments. Additional right-of-way will be required. FDOT carries out a right-of-way acquisition and relocation program in accordance with Section 339.09, Florida Statutes, and the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Act of 1970 as amended. Potential encroachments on wetlands and floodplains have been identified as a result of this study and may be given special consideration under Executive Orders 11990 and 11988.
