    The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIME: Tuesday, January 15, 2019, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. CST (Open House); 6:30 p.m. (Formal Presentation)

    PLACE: Navarre Conference Center, 8700 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, Florida 32566.

    The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to attend a public hearing concerning the State Road (S.R.) 30 (U.S. 98) Project Development and Environment Study from Portside Drive in Santa Rosa County to S.R. 393 (Mary Esther Boulevard) in Okaloosa County, a distance of approximately 24.5 miles. The hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. in an open-house format, with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m., followed by a public comment period. The hearing is being held to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the conceptual design, and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed project.

     

    The intent of the study is to widen U.S. 98 throughout the project limits, provide intersection improvements, safety and access management improvements, as well as add bicycle lanes and sidewalk. The access management changes along U.S. 98 include modifying, closing, and creating new median openings. The project also includes evaluation of environmental impacts including an anticipated de minimis finding (minimal impact) under Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act.

     

    Maps, drawings, and additional information will be available for review. Representatives from FDOT will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments.

     

    Draft study documents are available for public review online at the project website nwflroads.com as well as in hard copy format from December 19, 2018, until January 25, 2019, at the Mary Esther Public Library, 100 Hollywood Boulevard, Mary Esther, Florida, during library hours, Monday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday – Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday – Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed December 22, 2018 – January 2, 2019 and at the Navarre Public Library, 8484 James Harvell Road, Navarre, Florida, Monday – Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., closed December 24 – 25, 2018 and January 1, 2019.

     

    The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
