NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on November 29, 2005, Bureau of Elevator Safety issued an Order Granting Variance Request in response to a petition filed September 30, 2005 and advertised in FAW Vol. 31, No. 42, by Steve Powell of KONE, Inc. regarding Best Western Auburndale (VW 2005-145). The variance granted a waiver from Rules 100.3a, 101.6, of ASME A17.1, 1996 Edition with 1997 Addenda and 2.29.2 of ASME A17.2, 1996 Edition, as adopted by Rule 61C-5.001, F.A.C. The petitioner had requested to not have a machine room and to install a Monospace© Elevator System in the above project and the petition was granted as the petitioner demonstrated that this new technology provided an equivalent or greater level of safety.
