    The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

    PLACE: Historic Gato Cigar Factory, Monroe County Office Complex, Conference Room, First Floor, 1100 Simonton Street, Key West, Florida 33040

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: PURPOSE: DEO is seeking a nonprofit organization to administer the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program in Monroe County, Florida. Entities interested in contracting with DEO to provide services under the program should be present at this public meeting in order to be informed of the qualifications and application requirements.

     

    Selection of an entity will be based on the entity's experience and performance in a broad range of services designed to eliminate poverty and foster self-sufficiency. The entity must be interested in becoming a CSBG eligible entity and must be willing to meet the requirements of 42 U. S. C. 9901, Sections 676 A and 676 B concerning the structure and operations of the CSBG board. Special consideration will be given to any community action agency or other public or nonprofit entity which has demonstrated effectiveness in providing services consistent with the goals and purposes of CSBG.

     

    The following qualities will be reviewed: (1) the extent to which the entity’s past or current programs achieved or are achieving the stated goals in a timely fashion; (2) the quality of work performed by the entity; (3) the number, qualifications, and experience of the staff members of the entity; (4) the ability of the entity to secure and train volunteers; and (5) maintain compliance with administrative, program, and financial management requirements.

     

    Only one entity will be funded. The entity must be capable and willing to provide services to all eligible low-income citizens in Monroe County.

     

    ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN: DEO will review the submitted applications, and make a decision regarding each applicant’s eligibility to provide CSBG services to Monroe County. DEO staff will prepare a recommendation for the selected entity for subsequent consideration and approval or disapproval by DEO’s Executive Director
