Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice

The Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIME: January 16, 2015, 12:30 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

PLACE: The Knott Building in Room 412, Tallahassee

The Knott Building is part of the Capitol Complex and must be accessed through a main entrance of the Capitol Building. The Capitol Building has two main entrances: an east entrance and a west entrance. The address for the Capitol is for the east entrance, which is 400 South Monroe Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32399. However, for parking reasons, we recommend you enter the Capitol Complex through the west entrance.

Parking information is as follows. We recommend you park in the Kleman Plaza parking garage, located at 306 South Duval Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32301. All-day parking costs $6. As you exit the Kleman Plaza parking garage, the Supreme Court building will be to your right, and the Capitol Complex will be to your right and across Duval Street. Proceed up the steps and past the fountain to get to the Capitol Complex’s west entrance.

After you get through security, go straight ahead to the rotunda to take an elevator to the second floor. (Please note that not all elevators go to the second floor, so we suggest you check the plaques next to the elevators.) When you exit the elevator on the second floor, proceed to the Senate side of the Capitol Complex (marked with a sign above the entry). You will keep to the right and follow the signs to the Knott Building – after you cross the sky bridge, you will be in the Knott Building. Note that because of an elevation change, when you exit the sky bridge, you will be on the fourth floor of the Knott Building, not the second. Proceed to the left and around the corner, and you will see Room 412 on your right.

GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: On the tentative agenda for the Florida commission’s first meeting are presentations on the role of access to justice commissions and an overview of the need for legal services in Florida, a panel discussion on understanding the legal services gap, and a call to action for the commission members to begin working.
