    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Florida Building Commission has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Midway Services, Inc. on July 13, 2017. The following is a summary of the agencys disposition of the petition:

    Petitioner requested an answer to the following question, based upon the project described within its petition: Does section 602.2.1, Florida Building Code, Mechanical, 5th Edition (2014) require poly or brass water submeters to be plenum-rated if they are to be installed in a plenum-rated space? On October 10, the Commission provided the following answer: Yes, pursuant to section 602.2.1, Florida Building Code, Mechanical, 5th Edition (2014), in order for the product in question to be installed in plenum-rated spaces, it must be noncombustible or it must be listed and labeled as having a flame spread index of not more than 25 and a smoke-developed index of not more than 50 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84 or UL 723.
