On 10/8/2018, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation (Consumer Finance) received a Petition for Declaratory Statement from Patrick Imperato. The petition seeks a declaratory statement from the Office on whether his proposed business model (to help Americans get foreign currency before they travel abroad, and exchange what they have left upon return. Customers would purchase the currency online (through a website or an app) and have it shipped to their homes) falls under the Florida Money Transmitter Statute, Chapter 560, Florida Statutes.
