    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on October 10, 2012, the Department of Health, received a petition for Variance from Florida Administrative Code Rule 64E-16.004(2)(a) and 16E-.002(15), from Teri Donaldson, Petitioner, on behalf of Stericycle, Inc. These rules prescribe that packages of biomedical waste shall remain sealed until treatment and define packages as any material that completely envelops biomedical waste, including red bags, sharps containers, and outer containers. The Petitioner requests a variance from the rules to allow the Petitioner to open packages of biomedical waste and consolidate and transfer the biomedical waste into large outer containers for transportation to another permitted storage or treatment facility.
