  • The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.
    DATE AND TIME: Thursday, November 8, 2012, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
    Note: In the event of severe weather or other unforeseen conditions, an alternate date is scheduled on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the same times and location.

    U.S. 441 (State Road (S.R.) 500) Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study from north of S.R. 46 to S.R. 44 in Lake County.
    This public hearing is being held to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location; conceptual design; and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed project. The study examines proposed improvements including widening U.S. 441 from four lanes to six lanes, roadway and driveway reconstruction, drainage improvements, proposed sidewalks and changes to intersections and turn lanes within the study limits. The hearing is also being held to receive input on the proposed access management changes for the project which include median modifications and reclassification of U.S. 441 from Access Class 3 to Access Class 5. This project is not currently funded for right-of-way acquisition or construction.
    The environmental documents and preliminary plans prepared for the study will be available for public review at the hearing and online at http://us441study.com. They will also be available during normal business hours from October 18 to November 19 at the W.T. Bland Public Library located at 1995 North Donnelly Street in Mount Dora and at the Eustis Memorial Library located at 120 North Center Street in Eustis.
