GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: Proposed widening design of State Road (S.R.) 60 from U.S. 441 to east of the Florida’s Turnpike, and proposed resurfacing of U.S. 441 from the Okeechobee County line to S.R. 60 in Osceola County.

Financial Project Identification (FPID) Nos.: 441036-1 and 439487-1

Project Description: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites all persons to attend a drive-thru open house proposed widening design of State Road (S.R.) 60 from U.S. 441 to east of the Florida’s Turnpike, and resurfacing of U.S. 441 (Kenansville Road) from the Okeechobee County line to S.R. 60 in Osceola County.

The drive-thru open house is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. outside the historic Desert Inn, 5570 S Kenansville Road, Yeehaw Junction, FL 34972. Interested persons may drive up to the project tent any time during those hours to view project exhibits, speak with project team members, and provide input on the design.

The proposed design on S.R. 60 calls for widening the roadway to accommodate two 12-foot-wide travel lanes and a 12-foot-wide center turn lane within the project limits. The new center turn lane will help to alleviate congestion and improve operations between the Turnpike on and off ramps, and the U.S. 441 intersection. The improvements also include 5-foot-wide paved outside shoulders, drainage, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) upgrades.

The design proposed for U.S. 441 includes resurfacing all travel lanes, minor safety enhancements, and drainage improvements.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
