GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Four, will conduct two similar Alternatives Public Workshops for the proposed interstate improvements to State Road (SR) 9/I-95 in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida (Distance of approximately 13.5 miles). Project Limits: From north of Oakland Park Boulevard (SR 816) to south of Glades Road (SR 808) in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida. Financial Project No’s.: 409359-1-22-01 and 409355-1-22-01; Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) No.: 3330. These workshops are being held in an open-house format.
The purpose of this study is to relieve existing and future congestion by providing additional capacity and transportation modes along the existing I-95 corridor. This study will focus on evaluating the addition of tolled express lanes in the median. The purpose of these express lanes is to improve mobility, relieve congestion and provide additional travel options along the I-95 corridor. The express lanes will create an opportunity to accommodate a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that will allow express bus service between counties with connections to the existing Park-and-Ride lots along the corridor. This project will provide continuity with the proposed I-95 express lanes system immediately to the south of the study limits, as well as to the existing I-95 express lanes system in Miami-Dade County.
The workshops are being held to present the project progress to date and obtain comments from the general public on the alternatives being considered. Department representatives will be available during the workshops to informally discuss the project and answer questions. Your participation is encouraged and appreciated.
Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
