61G20-1.001Florida Building Code Adopted
PURPOSE AND EFFECT: Senate Bill 4-D (2022) was passed by the Legislature during a special session, and went into effect upon being signed by the Governor. The bill contains a provision which expands repair options for existing roofs which were built, repaired, or replaced to the standards of the 2007 Florida Building Code, or any later edition, and directs the Florida Building Commission to adopt this provision into the Code. The bill also contains provisions concerning mandatory structural inspections for condominium and cooperative buildings, and the Commission intends to incorporate these into the Code as well.
SUMMARY: The proposed amendments will update the Code to include statutorily-mandated provisions pertaining to the repair of existing roofs. They will also incorporate new requirements for periodic structural inspections of certain existing condominium and cooperative buildings.
SUMMARY OF STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED REGULATORY COSTS AND LEGISLATIVE RATIFICATION:
The Agency has determined that this will not have an adverse impact on small business or likely increase directly or indirectly regulatory costs in excess of $200,000 in the aggregate within one year after the implementation of the rule. A SERC has not been prepared by the Agency.
The Agency has determined that the proposed rule is not expected to require legislative ratification based on the statement of estimated regulatory costs or if no SERC is required, the information expressly relied upon and described herein: The proposed amendments will merely amend the Code to be consistent with new state statutory requirements.
Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.
