    DATE AND TIME: Thursday, November 21, 2019, Open house 5:00 p.m.; Presentation, 6:00 p.m.

PLACE: Alonzo “Babe” James Community Center, 201 North Myrtle Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168

GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing regarding proposed safety improvements at the intersections of S.R. 44 at Eddie Road and Ingham Road.

Proposed improvements at the intersection of S.R. 44 and Eddie Road consist of installing a flashing yellow arrow signal for the eastbound left-turn lane on S.R. 44, implementing a green left arrow for the eastbound and westbound left-turn movements from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and closing the current median opening at Fran Drive to extend the eastbound left-turn lane at Eddie Road and the westbound left-turn lane at Ellison Avenue.

Proposed improvements at the intersection of S.R. 44 and Ingham Road consist of converting the existing median opening to a directional median opening, which would eliminate left turns onto S.R. 44 from Ingham Road, closing the current median opening at King Street to the west of Ingham Road and upgrading existing signing and pavement markings.

The public hearing will be Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Alonzo “Babe” James Community Center, 201 North Myrtle Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. The hearing will begin as an informational open house at 5:00 p.m. where displays and other project information will be available for review. Staff also will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. A presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by public comments.

A court reporter will be present to record proceedings, and assist with comments, as part of the project record. Written comments can be submitted at the hearing, sent by mail to Dave Mixon, FDOT Project Manager, Florida Department of Transportation, 719 S. Woodland Boulevard M.S. 562, DeLand, FL 32720-6834; or emailed to Dave.Mixon@dot.state.fl.us no later than Monday, December 2, 2019.
