    Florida Department of Transportation, District One, and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise will hold public hearings to present the District One Tentative Five Year Work Program for fiscal years beginning July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2019. All members of the public are invited to attend. Specific notice is provided to the Polk Transportation Planning Organization, Lee County, Sarasota/Manatee, Charlotte County-Punta Gorda and Collier Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Central Florida Metropolitan Planning Organization Alliance, West Central Florida Metropolitan Planning Organizations Chairs Coordinating Committee, Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority and the county commissions of Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Manatee, Okeechobee, Polk and Sarasota Counties.

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: The public hearings will consist of department presentations about the tentative work program followed by a public testimony period. At each hearing, people are invited to review the tentative work program. Department staff will be available for information discussion and assistance. A court reporter will accept public comments, if desired, for entry into the public record. Written comments from all interested parties are accepted by the department at the public hearings or if received by December 31, 2013. Comments should be mailed to Billy L. Hattaway, P.E., District Secretary, Florida Department of Transportation, Post Office Box 1249, Bartow, Florida 33831.

    The public hearings are developed in compliance with Section 339.135(4)(d), Florida Statutes, as amended, and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes.
