The Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Hotels and Restaurants, Bureau of Elevator Safety hereby gives notice: On November 19, 2018 the Division issued an order. The Final Order was in response to a Petition for a temporary Variance from University of Florida, filed September 5, 2018, and advertised on September 7, 2018 in Vol. 44, No. 175, of the Florida Administrative Register. No comments were received in response to the petition. The Final Order on the Petition for Variance grants the Petitioner a variance from Rules 2.7.4, 3.4.3, 3.10.3, 3.11.1, and 3.11.3, A.S.M.E. A17.3, 1996 A.S.M.E. A17.3, 1996 edition, as adopted by Rule 61C-5.001 Florida Administrative Code that requires machine room ventilation, restricted opening of hoistway doors, platform guards, location of car doors and gates, top of car operating devices, car emergency signaling devices, and firefighter service operations because the Petitioner has demonstrated that the purpose of the underlying statute has been met and that Petitioner would suffer a substantial hardship if required to comply with this rule (VW 2018-197).
