    RULE NO.:RULE TITLE:

    68B-44.004Bag and Vessel Limits Applicable to Florida Waters; Restrictions on Possession of Prohibited Species; Transit Through Florida Waters

    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this rule development notice is to address a possible federal consistency action to amend the state shortfin mako recreational bag and vessel limit to be consistent with current federal regulations, maintain Florida’s compliance with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Coastal Sharks, and help rebuild the North Atlantic shortfin mako stock. The effect of the rule amendment would be to establish consistent recreational bag and vessel limits for shortfin mako in state and federal waters off Florida.

    SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Subject areas addressed in the rule development notice include recreational bag and vessel limits for shortfin mako shark in Florida state waters.

    RULEMAKING AUTHORITY: Art. IV, Sec. 9, Florida Constitution.

    LAW IMPLEMENTED: Art. IV, Sec. 9, Florida Constitution.
