    The South Florida Regional Planning Council and the City of Marathon announces a workshop to which all persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIME: Thursday, November 8, 2018, 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: “Peril of Flood” Workshop. Participants will meet to discuss the changes to the city’s comprehensive plan as it pertains to the Peril of Flood State Statute. The meeting will address the implications of sea level rise, and storm surge, as they pertain to the Marathon’s readiness to reduce flood risk, and aid in re-development following a flood. This will include discussion regarding the expansion of flood insurance, as well as submitting elevation certificates to the Division of Emergency Management. Other topics will include the coastal high hazard area, the coastal construction control line, and building codes.
