NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Construction Industry Licensing Board has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Charles N. Hunt, Jr. on August 4, 2014. The following is a summary of the agency's disposition of the petition:

The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Vol. 40, No. 157, of the August 13, 2014, Florida Administrative Register. The Board’s Order, filed on October 31, 2014, issued a declaratory statement that if required by the local building department, he needs to complete the specialized continuing education courses specified in Section 489.115(4)(b)2., F.S., and paragraph 61G4-18.001(2)(f), F.A.C., before he can submit his own plans and drawings. As to whether local building departments are allowed to require liability releases, special training or any other item not specifically addressed in the state statutes, the Board declines to answer because it is not within the scope of the Construction Industry Licensing Board.
