GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is holding a public workshop to gather feedback on stakeholder requests to change shrimp harvest regulations specific to northeast Florida, from Brevard through Nassau counties.

Staff will provide an overview of the stakeholder-requested regulation changes, which include increasing the dead shrimp allowance for commercial live bait harvesters, opening portions of the Pumpkin Hill Creek area off the Nassau River to shrimping, allowing frame nets as a legal commercial gear in Volusia County, and allowing cast nets as a legal commercial shrimp harvesting gear in the St. Johns River. Public feedback gathered during this workshop will be used to inform potential rule development, which may be presented to the FWC Commissioners for consideration at a future Commission meeting.
