    ATKINS - Bartow

    The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is hosting a public hearing as part of the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study of a new overpass to carry State Road (SR) 60 over the CSX Railroad crossing located about 11 miles east of Bartow and four miles west of Lake Wales in Polk County. FDOT invites all members of the public to attend.

    DATE AND TIMES: Thursday, November 17, 2016, 6:00 p.m., open house; 7:00 p.m., formal hearing

    PLACE: Polk State Corporate College (Room 1120), 310 Technology Drive, Bartow, Florida

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: This hearing offers people the opportunity to express their views about the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of constructing a new SR 60 overpass. The study limits are SR 60 from 3,900 feet west of the CSX crossing to 2,700 feet east of the crossing, a distance of 1.25 miles. Financial Project ID 436559-1-22-01.

    Draft reports and project plans are available for public review from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning October 27 through November 30 (except November 24-25), 2016, at Polk State Corporate College, 310 Technology Drive, Bartow, Florida.

    FDOT sent notices of the public hearing to property owners located within 300 feet either side of SR 60 within the study limits. Encroachments on wetlands and floodplains have been identified and may be given special consideration under Executive Orders 11990 and 11988, Protection of Wetlands and Floodplain Management, respectively.

    FDOT solicits public participation without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
