    Engineering I Renovation

    NOTICE TO ARCHITECTS AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS

    The University of Central Florida, on behalf of its Board of Trustees, announces that services in the disciplines of mechanical engineering services will be required for the project listed below:

    Project No. UCF-553 Engineering Building I MEP Renovation

    Project and Location: Engineering Building I, University of Central Florida, Main Campus, Orlando, Florida.

    The project consists of the MEP renovation of the existing Engineering Building I, which is twenty-eight years old. The building comprises five stories and 103,885 gross square feet. The renovation will include modifications to the major building systems to meet current occupancy and life safety codes.

    The total project cost will be approximately $3,600,000. The state has currently appropriated .This project is subject to the availability of funding.

    There will be two separate contracts for this project, one for the architect and one for the construction manager (CM).

    FORM OF PROPOSALS

    The selected engineering firm will provide program verification, design, construction documents, and administration for the project. Blanket professional liability insurance for the architect will be required for this project in the amount of $2,000,000 and will be provided as a part of Basic Services.

    The selection committee members have elected not to meet with proposed firms prior to the shortlist meeting. Please do not contact the selection committee.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR ARCHITECT AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FIRMS

    Engineering firms desiring to apply for consideration must include a letter of application and attach:

    1.The most recent version of the Florida Board of Education Professional Qualifications Supplement (PQS) dated 7/03, completed by the applicant. Do not alter the PQS form.

    2.A copy of the firm’s current Professional Registration Certificates from the appropriate governing board. An applicant must be properly registered at the time of application to practice its profession in the State of Florida. If the applicant is a corporation, it must be chartered by the Florida Department of State to operate in Florida.

    Application materials will not be returned.

    Selection of finalists for interviews will be made on the basis of the engineers’ qualifications. Selection criteria include: experience and ability; past experience; cost estimating; qualifications of the firms personnel, staff and consultants; and ability to include minority business enterprise participation and SDVOSB, as well as these specified criteria listed in the Project Fact Sheet. Proposals should address all of the selection criteria.

    The Selection Committee may reject all proposals and stop the selection process at any time.

    The plans and specifications for Florida Board of Education projects are subject to reuse. As required by University of Central Florida Regulation 7.102.22, a contractor may not submit a proposal for this project if it is on the convicted vendor list for a public entity crime committed within the past 36 months. The selected contractor must warrant that it will neither utilize the services of, nor contract with, any supplier, subcontractor, or consultant in excess of $15,000.00 in connection with this project for a period of 36 months from the date of placement on the convicted vendor list.

    Firms should carefully review the relevant UCF Architect/Engineer contract or Construction Management Contract and the General Conditions documents. Submitting a proposal for this project constitutes complete agreement with and acceptance of the terms and conditions contained within these documents. These documents can be found on our website at www.fp.ucf.edu with the advertisement.

    BADGING and Identification

    Criminal background checks, E-verification, and drug testing verification will be provided for all employees and sub-contractors. Picture ID cards will be worn at all times workers are on the job.

    Five (5) bound copies of the required proposal data shall be submitted to: Mrs. Gina Seabrook, Facilities and Safety Building (#16), University of Central Florida, Office of Facilities Planning, 4000 Central Florida Boulevard, P.O. Box 163020, Orlando, FL 32816-3020. Submittals must be received by 5:00 p.m. local time, on January 24th, 2014. Facsimile (FAX) submittals are not acceptable and will not be considered. Late submissions will not be accepted.
