68C-22.026: Sarasota County ZonesNOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on November 4, 2012, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission received a petition for a temporary variance from a portion of (2)(a)4 of the Sarasota County manatee protection rule (68C-22.026, Florida Administrative Code), which designates some of the waters in the vicinity of the City Island area as a Slow Speed zone. The petition was submitted by the Sarasota Ski-A-Rees, Inc. (“Ski-A-Rees”) and seeks renewal of a variance issued in 2003 and renewed in 2007 allowing Ski-A-Rees to conduct show-ski operations and training in a portion of the Slow Speed zone near City Island. The request seeks to renew all aspects of the 2007 variance for another five years. Comments regarding the petition will be accepted for no less than 14 days from the date of publication of this notice.
