The Board of Professional Engineers hereby gives notice: of the issuance of an Order regarding the Petition for Variance or Waiver, filed on June 13, 2023 by Chi-Yu Sheu. The Notice of Petition for Variance or Waiver was published in Vol. 49 No. 132, of the July 10, 2023, Florida Administrative Register. Petitioner sought a Variance or Waiver of Rule 61G15-20.002, F.A.C., and certification of his application for licensure as a professional engineer. Petitioner sought experience credit for time Petitioner worked, prior to obtaining an ABET accredited engineering degree, as a maintenance manager at the Department of Transportation. The Board considered the instant Petition at a duly noticed public meeting held on August 3, 2023. The Board’s Order was filed on September 6, 2023. The Board found Petitioner has failed to meet the purpose of the underlying statute by other means and failed to demonstrate application of the rule to Petitioner would create an undue hardship or violate principles of fairness, but prior to a vote to deny the Petition, Petitioner withdrew the Petition at the meeting. The Board granted withdrawal of the Petition without action, as specified in the Order.
