Unified State Plan Public Notice for Comment
In 2014, the federal government passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which is designed to give job seekers easier access to employment, education, training, and support services needed to succeed in the labor market, and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
WIOA aligns core education, training, and employment services under a statewide workforce system. In Florida, these services are provided by the Department of Economic Opportunity, CareerSource Florida, and the Department of Education’s Divisions of Vocational Rehabilitation, Career and Adult Education, and Blind Services. We have developed a Unified State Plan that describes how we will work together to prepare potential employees for the workforce and fulfill the needs of employers.
You can find a draft of the Unified State Plan at http://careersourceflorida.com/wioa/. Feedback is encouraged, and you can submit your comments on the plan at http://careersourceflorida.com/wioa-comments/. Comments should be submitted by March 7, 2016 for consideration prior to submission of the plan to the US Departments of Labor and Education.
