    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Fred Shuaibi on October 31, 2019. The following is a summary of the agency's disposition of the petition: The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Volume 45, No. 222, of the November 14, 2019, Florida Administrative Register. The Petitioner sought a Declaratory Statement from the Board with regard to Rule 61G6-7.001, F.A.C. and whether the following listed activities are within the practice of a sign specialty contractor’s license. a. Can a sign specialty contractor connect to an existing dedicated circuit near the pole sign (free standing panel)? b. Can a sign specialty contractor test that existing dedicated free standing panel and determine if it is adequate to energize the free standing sign? c. Can a sign specialty contractor acquire a permit to stub out free standing sign conduit to that existing dedicated circuit or Brooks box? The Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board considered the Petition at a duly-noticed public meeting held on January 24, 2020, in Fernandina Beach, Florida The Board, in the Order filed on February 10, 2020, voted to answer the questions in the following manner: a. Yes, a sign contractor can connect to a nearby pole. However, the Board was unsure of what Petitioner was describing as “free standing” an so the Board cannot opine or provide a specific answer. b. The Board was unable to answer this question because it was too vague. c. The Board stated that permitting is up to the local jurisdiction.
