64B8-8.018: Voluntary Relinquishment of License

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT on February 27, 2009, the Board of Medicine issued an order. The Petition for Waiver and/or Variance was filed on behalf of Gangaram Ragi, M.D., on December 12, 2008, seeking a waiver or variance from Rule 64B8-8.018, F.A.C., with regard to the rule provision which prohibits physicians with discipline on his license from voluntarily relinquishing said license without the relinquishment being deemed a disciplinary action. The Notice was published in Vol. 34, No. 52 of the Florida Administrative Weekly, on December 26, 2008. The Board, at its meeting held on February 6, 2009, voted to deny Petition for Waiver finding that the Petitioner failed to demonstrate that the purpose of the underlying statute has been or will be achieved by the Petitioner by some other means.
