    6M-4.710School Readiness Program Curricula

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose of the proposed rules is to create a uniform process by which the Office may evaluate and approve curriculum to be used in School Readiness Programs. This will culminate in the creation of a statewide curriculum list that will allow providers to select a curriculum that has been reviewed and determined to meet the statutory requirements. Each provider shall use a curriculum approved pursuant to this rule when offering the School Readiness Program.

SUMMARY: The proposed Rule 6M-4.710, F.A.C., is a revised rule to establish the process for selection and review of curricula for use in the School Readiness Program. Section 1002.82(2)(l), Florida Statutes, requires the Office of Early Learning to establish rules regarding system support services, including use of developmentally appropriate curricula.

SUMMARY OF STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED REGULATORY COSTS AND LEGISLATIVE RATIFICATION:

The Agency has determined that this will not have an adverse impact on small business or likely increase directly or indirectly regulatory costs in excess of $200,000 in the aggregate within one year after the implementation of the rule. A SERC has not been prepared by the Agency.

The Agency has determined that the proposed rule is not expected to require legislative ratification based on the statement of estimated regulatory costs or if no SERC is required, the information expressly relied upon and described herein: The Office of Early Learning has conducted an analysis of the proposed rule’s economic impact and determined that it did not exceed any of the criteria established in paragraph 120.541(2)(a), F.S.

Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.
