    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this rule development notice is to address a possible federal consistency action to amend Gulf of Mexico greater amberjack state regulations to be consistent with pending federal regulations. The effect of this rule amendment is to modify the recreational fishing season in Gulf state waters for greater amberjack. Consistent regulations can help improve the stock status of this species, increase regulatory compliance, and aid in enforcement.

    SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Subject areas to be addressed in the rule development is the recreational season for greater amberjack in Florida’s Gulf of Mexico state waters.

    RULEMAKING AUTHORITY: Art. IV, Sec. 9, Florida Constitution.
