NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Florida Building Commission has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Joseph R. Hetzel, P.E., of Doors & Access Systems Manufacturer's Association International on October 31, 2012. The following is a summary of the agency's disposition of the petition:
The petition was granted, and the Florida Building Commission determined that the term “protection of openings” is analogous to the term “opening protection” as referenced in Section R301.2.1.2, Florida Building Code, Residential Volume (2010). It was also determined that Section R301.2.1.2 is specific to glazed products.
