    The Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) announces public meetings to which all persons are invited.

    DATES AND TIMES: March 20, 2014, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Initial Public Workgroup meeting; April 11, 2014, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Public Hearing on the draft Annual Action Plan

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: PURPOSE: To conduct a public meeting to encourage participation regarding the preparation of the Annual Action Plan for Federal Fiscal Year 2014; and to review the draft of the Annual Action Plan once it is completed.

    SUMMARY: The State of Florida is required to submit an Annual Action Plan to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order to receive federal funding from that agency. The Plan must cover the grant programs funded by HUD. Grant programs included in the Plan are administered by four state agencies: the Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) by the Department of Economic Opportunity; the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) by the Department of Children and Families; the Home Investment Partnership (HOME) by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation; and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA) by the Department of Health. The Plan must specify the manner in which the funds will be distributed to eligible applicants.

    ACTION TO BE TAKEN: At the public meeting to be held on March 20, 2014, staff from the CDBG, ESG, HOME and HOPWA programs will provide an overview of the programs and answer questions. Interested parties are encouraged to attend.

    The second public meeting will be conducted on April 11, 2014, to review and accept comments on the draft Annual Action Plan. It will also be posted on the Department’s website: http://www.floridajobs.org/Annual-Action-Plan.

    A 30-day comment period on the drafted plan will commence on April 11, 2014, and will conclude May 12, 2014.
