    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Nursing has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Lancia L. Simmons on November 5, 2013. The following is a summary of the agency’s disposition of the petition:

    The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Vol. 39, No. 217, of the November 6, 2013 Florida Administrative Register. Petitioner asks the Board if Section 464.003(20), F.S., is applicable to the administration of Ketamine within the scope of practice of a registered nurse. The Board’s Amended Order, filed on February 28, 2014, states that it finds that under the specific facts of the petition, that the administration of Ketamine by Petitioner for sedation purpose as non-anesthetic doses to mechanically ventilated patients in ICU beds and the administration of Ketamine for analgesic purposes to patients, assessed and monitored by Petitioner, undergoing time limited procedures, are within the scope of Petitioners license.
